Job SummaryThe Field Service Engineer (FSE) – Microbiology Specialist provides routine to complex field service and support for Sievers® brand endotoxin and bioburden analytical instruments. Support includes maintenance, verification, validation, repair, and calibration duties, troubleshooting, and user training. This role also supports the Sievers® brand TOC instrumentation line.
Residency Requirement: Resident of the Denver Metropolitan area, within one hour of Denver International Airport. Other locations considered based on candidate qualifications and geographic needs.
Travel Requirement: Frequent overnight domestic travel. Some overnight travel to support TOC customers.
Key Characteristics: Resourceful, self-directed, detail-oriented, motivated. Must enjoy extensive domestic overnight travel and be a "road-warrior". Strong planning, scheduling, and organizational skills are essential. Strong scientific approach to operation, maintenance, and repair of analytical instrumentation. Excellent client focus, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Travel to customer sites and perform PM on Endotoxin, Bioburden, and TOC equipment.
- Plan, schedule, and confirm customer services, coordinating travel and parts.
- Maintain admin duties, parts inventory, and relevant trainings.
- Take customer calls, participate in territory sales rhythm calls, and service team meetings.
- Respond to on-demand contract services.
- Write clear and concise reports for customers.
- Complete special projects and new hire training.
- Collaborate with Sales to identify new instrument and service opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety and EHS policies.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong technical, mathematical, and customer service skills.
- Understanding of microbiology principles, cGMP/GLP/GDP practices, and EHS requirements.
- Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- General knowledge of electrical equipment, chemistry, and safety.
- Computer proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, networking, databases).
- Ability to use tools and handle fluids (acids, bases).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-motivated, ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate and contribute in a commercial team environment.
- Ability to make good business decisions.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant life sciences field.
- 2+ years experience in Endotoxin and/or Bioburden testing in a pharmaceutical industry or GMP facility.
Preferred:
- Domain expertise in pharmaceutical water quality testing.
- Hands-on experience with bioburden/endotoxin analytical instruments and equipment.
- Work experience in ultra-pure water applications or servicing analytical instrumentation.
- Knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations.
Work Conditions:
