General Counsel - Global Employment Law will provide labor and employment-related legal advice to HR and company leadership worldwide. This includes legal research, drafting, and counseling on international and employment/labor legal issues.
Reporting to the Chief Legal Officer, this role protects NielsenIQ's legal interests, ensures compliance, and facilitates corporate objectives.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Global Employment Law Oversight: Provide expert legal guidance on employment law across all jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with local laws and best practices.
- Management & Dispute Resolution: Identify, evaluate, and address employment-related risks. Cost-effectively manage external counsel in employment litigated matters.
- Employment Contracts & Agreements: Draft and review employment agreements, offer letters, non-compete agreements, and other employee-related contracts, ensuring consistency and compliance.
- Employee Relations & Investigations: Advise on employee relations issues, including grievances, terminations, and investigations. Promote a positive and inclusive work environment.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with HR leadership to develop and implement global employment policies.
- Leadership & Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of employment lawyers.
- Training & Development: Create and deliver training programs for HR and business leaders on global employment law.
- IPO Readiness & Compliance: Partner with stakeholders to ensure employment law matters are addressed for the company's IPO, including executive compensation and equity plans.
- Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Support: Provide legal counsel on employment matters in M&A transactions, including due diligence and employee integration.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer in US or European jurisdiction.
- Minimum 12+ years' experience as an employment attorney, with 5+ years in senior leadership.
- Significant experience managing global employment law for a multinational company.
- Strong knowledge of the European legal framework.
- In-house experience preferred.
