AECOM seeks a Discipline Department Manager to lead a growing Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineering team within the US Energy Practice. This role offers remote work and/or on-site flexibility at various Energy offices nationwide.
Responsibilities include:
- Team supervision and leadership, supporting the Director of Engineering in fostering technical excellence.
- Mentoring I&C engineers, fostering their development and career growth.
- Improving project efficiencies through the creation and implementation of standards/templates.
- Providing input to management on resource allocation and staff forecasting.
- Developing project task lists, estimating hours, and creating schedules to support business development.
- Supporting recruiting efforts.
- Project participation, encompassing the full project lifecycle from feasibility to commissioning.
- Acting as the I&C Engineer of Record on assigned projects.
- Collaborating with multi-discipline leads to integrate I&C into projects.
- Performing engineering calculations and creating deliverables (specifications, reports, drawings).
- Ensuring quality, on-time, and on-budget project delivery.
- Maintaining technical and safety standards.
- Presenting engineering work at client meetings (occasional travel).
- Level-specific responsibilities include coordinating and providing technical expertise for medium to large-scale projects, leading technical client relationships, playing a key role in sales, driving discipline department growth, and providing specialized technical input to studies and design.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- 8+ years of relevant experience in industrial and/or power facilities.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4+ years of team supervision experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a discipline technical lead.
- Expertise in instrumentation and control systems design.
- Proficiency with control systems (PLC/DCS).
- Familiarity with InTools, SmartPlant, and control systems for renewables.
- Full EPC or Design/Build experience.
- Plant startup and commissioning experience.
- 3D modeling and laser scanning experience.
- Experience working in remote and multi-discipline teams.
