About the Role: The National Sales Senior Director is a key leadership position on the Screening Team, responsible for leading primary care sales leadership and sales team. This position reports directly into the Vice President of Screening Sales. The National Sales Director will lead customer-facing activity to drive adoption of our early cancer CRC screening test with primary care physicians and other targeted customers. The role will hire, coach, and develop sales leaders who will manage sales professionals focused on primary care physicians. This role builds the Screening Team, shapes culture, inspires the team to bring Guardant’s early cancer CRC screening test to adoption, and facilitates guideline-driven use. Works with internal stakeholders for sales training content, provides input for quarterly/annual planning, and ensures effective field execution with sales operations. Consistently evaluates and exceeds execution metrics, sales trends, and market analysis to drive tactical direction and results. Identifies areas for sales team development, builds teams, and develops budget/resourcing plans.
Responsibilities:
- Hire, lead, and develop a leadership team to support launch of Guardant’s cancer screening test.
- Lead team leaders in customer-facing activities, account management, and HCP promotion.
- Develop and implement comprehensive business plans (budgets, territory management, goal setting).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to inform and shape brand strategy.
- Analyze competitive landscape and environment to determine trends, provide customer feedback to leadership.
- Ensure excellence in brand strategy execution for primary care customer-facing teams (field work days, sales force assessments, metric analysis, customer feedback).
- Engage with key opinion leaders (KOLs) and customers to support sales objectives.
- Collaborate with multiple departments (IT, finance, marketing, sales ops, training, legal) for customer-facing team support.
- Ensure synergies with Screening Key Account Management team.
- Champion compliance and build a compliance culture in customer-facing activity (phlebotomy partnerships).
- Lead with a strategic mindset focused on patient well-being, performance, engagement, and organizational success.

Experience:
- 7+ years of above-average performance, 4+ years in a 2nd-line sales leadership role (Pharmaceuticals, Lab, Hospital, Diagnostics, preferably in primary care).
- Experience developing and leading large sales organizations (250+).
- Success working with health systems, integrated delivery networks, and large independent practices.
- Ability to build and execute strategic account plans.
- Understanding of payor and reimbursement in primary care.
- Independent work, proactive communication, project management, and prioritization.
- Handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
- Developing and utilizing cross-functional relationships.
- Experience managing remote teams.
- Ability to travel up to 75%.
Education:
- B.S. in life science, biology, business, or marketing preferred; advanced degree (MS, MBA) preferred.
Salary: $200,000 - $270,000 (USD).
