Smiths Interconnect Sales Engineer is responsible for leading strategic sales direction, management, support, communication, and interaction for all Smiths Interconnect Connector BU activities within a defined territory.
Provides customers with design-in support, design and process requirements, and value engineering.
Responsibilities Include:
- Meeting performance goals aligned with Smiths Interconnect Connectors BU objectives (sales, new business, design wins).
- Increasing sales to meet corporate growth strategy.
- Driving and measuring results to meet monthly, quarterly, and yearly order/shipment goals.
- Identifying and developing new opportunities and designs consistent with company objectives.
- Creating brand awareness in the assigned territory and customer base.
- Developing a strategic account penetration plan for the respective territory.
- Establishing and maintaining high-level relationships with key customers.
- Utilizing Salesforce.com (SFDC) for all opportunities and leads.
- Understanding the commercial impact of opportunities in SFDC and coordinating factory/engineering resources.
- Conducting quarterly business reviews with internal stakeholders.
- Analyzing and defining target accounts for company growth.
- Developing a knowledge base for significant customers (e.g., lead generation, relationship maps, program lists).
- Providing information on territorial trends: competition, opportunities, programs, and product demand.
- Driving opportunities to design win in alignment with company objectives.
- Providing pre-sales application support to customers, internal departments, and sales teams.
- Gathering and analyzing competitive information to ensure product offerings meet customer needs.
- Coordinating with Marketing and Engineering to prioritize engineering projects.
- Working with internal stakeholders on customer-specific pricing.
- Assisting in providing monthly, quarterly, and annual sales forecasts and budgeting.
- Contributing to sales tools for customer meetings and product launches.
- Remote role with 30-50% travel for industry events, customer meetings, technical reviews, presentations, and opportunity closure.
- Facilitating ongoing product training for internal and external stakeholders to communicate the Smiths Interconnect value proposition.
- Assisting in defining market share and available market share.
