Full-Time Senior Life Medical Underwriter

We are looking for a Customer Service Specialist to join our team.

You will review customer applications to identify risk factors and assess Life, Critical Illness, and Income Protection applications.

You will decide whether to offer a policy, the terms, or request further information from the customer or doctor.

Home-based or hybrid opportunities are available.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Accurately assess and document life and disability risks by reviewing applications and determining appropriate terms.
2. Participate in or lead projects to enhance underwriting processes and improve systems/viability, including initiating projects using initiative, expertise, and business awareness.
3. Ensure requests for further information are appropriate and accurate, minimizing unnecessary impact on the customer journey.
4. Identify and address complaints quickly, highlighting root causes to meet compliance with complaint response time limits.
5. Accurately record all work daily for effective communication and business decision-making.
6. Maintain excellent knowledge and understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements.
7. Communicate with internal, external customers, and third parties professionally and efficiently to maximize customer satisfaction and meet expectations.
8. Understand service commitments during marketing/sales processes to meet customer expectations and ensure service quality.

Qualifications:

• Experience in underwriting protection products
• Thorough understanding of mortality/morbidity and financial underwriting risks
• Extensive knowledge of protection products
• Knowledge of legislation and regulatory requirements (preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
