Job Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Manager, drafts, negotiates, and supports the implementation of contracts and amendments related to California ISO's markets, services, operations, and interconnections of generating facilities and transmission assets. Provides subject matter expertise for ISO Tariff amendments and implementation. Manages interactions with a wide variety of stakeholders, from generators to regulatory commissions. Collaborates and leads cross-functional teams including technical, business, and legal experts. Serves as a subject matter expert in specific service areas affected by ISO regulatory contracts. Demonstrates high levels of technical, commercial, and regulatory expertise in negotiating and implementing ISO contracts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drafts, negotiates, and supports implementation of contracts and amendments related to market participants, utilities, balancing authorities, generators, and transmission entities.
- Builds and maintains relationships with stakeholders; develops creative approaches to address utility or market participant circumstances related to ISO Tariff and internal system requirements.
- Drafts, reviews, and provides subject matter expertise on FERC filings regarding ISO agreements, data responses, and ISO Tariff.
- Provides direction to other ISO departments on implementing ISO agreement provisions and ISO Tariff.
- Provides subject matter expertise and guidance on ISO policies and procedures to other business units, representatives of other organizations, and the public.
- Prepares and presents verbal and written reports to ISO management and stakeholders, including public presentations.
- Facilitates, advises, and participates in projects supporting ISO strategies and goals.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) or equivalent in Business Administration, Engineering, Economics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Equivalent years of education and training plus five (5) or more years of related experience. Experience in electric utility industry contracts (engineering, legal, business). Experience with ISO markets, scheduling, operations, contracts, or ISO Tariff provisions. Experience drafting, negotiating, and administering electric utility industry contracts preferred. Detailed knowledge of ISO Tariff and ISO contracts (pro forma and non-pro forma) is also preferred.
