Full-Time Field Application Scientist I

Field Service Application Scientist I is a multi-disciplinary role in molecular biology and organic chemistry.

Contribute to LGC's Global Field Service team, bringing curiosity, problem-solving skills, and scientific acumen.

Support various organizational wings: Laboratory Operations, Engineering, Sales, and Manufacturing.

Responsibilities include:

• Field-based customer support.
• Customer assay verification/validation on LGC instrumentation.
• Scientific support for applications development.
• Technical support on instrumentation and software.
• Excellent customer-facing skills, strong understanding of LGC products.
• Operate laboratory equipment, on-site instrument installation.
• Develop testing protocols, troubleshoot, analyze data, stay current on emerging technologies.
• Customer Support and Training: Assist international customers, support equipment and software problems.
• Technical support for customer queries (may require on-site troubleshooting).
• Collaborate with internal teams during equipment installation and customer transition.
• Provide customer training and technical/application support.
• Work with customers to understand and validate samples/assays on LGC instrumentation.
• Evaluate assay design, optimize PCR reaction conditions, sample extraction, and oligo synthesis.
• Applications Support: Support laboratory operations, provide scientific support to various departments.
• Engineering Support: Support field service engineers, fixes, installations, and PMs.
• Sales/Marketing Support: Develop application notes, scientific posters, and presentations. Represent LGC at tradeshows (occasional travel).

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Genetics, or related field.
• Master's or PhD preferred.
• 1-3 years experience in genetics, molecular biology, or oligo synthesis.
• Working knowledge of PCR, Real-Time PCR, nucleic acid purification, data analysis, experimental design, and oligo synthesis.
• 2-5 years experience preferred.

Salary Range: $77,625 - $129,375 annually (California-based).
