Military and Federal (Mil/Fed) Business Development Specialist is accountable for developing and executing business development strategies for a specific geographic area. Accountable to federal, state, local programs, accrediting bodies, and MGA requirements.
Sales strategy must align with organizational goals, focusing on analyzing prospects in the East Region to create expansion plans.
The marketing and business development strategy should include:
- Creating and maintaining new business relationships.
- Expanding existing relationships.
- Educating referral sources and payers (healthcare facilities, military installations, Department of Veteran Affairs, Federal Workman’s Compensation programs, healthcare programs, insurance payers, physician groups, other government entities, case management groups) on MGA services.
Pursue large-scale or high-potential targets that may involve multiple MGA divisions and Business Development Managers.
Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset and increase organizational visibility within the community and trade associations.
Sell the full suite of MGA healthcare services, collaborating with relevant departments and divisions for successful implementation.
Responsibilities include developing comprehensive marketing and business development strategies based on area potential, community needs, and local office capabilities; collaborating with sales teams; working with clinical and operational teams to understand customers and services; engaging customers for education; developing comprehensive pursuit plans; establishing new accounts and building relationships; analyzing customer needs to create customized proposals; aligning marketing strategies with Area Vice Presidents; achieving budgeted targets; accurately completing reports; educating customers on business lines; collaborating with other managers for recruiting; communicating business opportunities; understanding federal and state laws/healthcare reform impacting the business; and adhering to compliance requirements.
Compliance: Adherence to MGA policies, federal/state requirements, successful completion of the company's compliance program, reporting policy violations. Promote a culture of compliance reporting.
Qualifications: Undergraduate degree (Business, Marketing, Management, Communications, Public Relations, Healthcare Administration preferred); 2+ years of healthcare or relevant business development experience; meeting all federal, state, and local requirements; excellent communication (verbal/written); public speaking; creative, independent work; computer proficiency (Microsoft Office).
Travel: Frequent daily travel in the specific geographic area (20% overnight travel).
