Job Purpose:LGC Standards seeks an experienced Sales Director to lead and manage the Sales Specialist and Quoting Teams in North America. Drive sales growth across transactional accounts by managing a high-performing team and optimizing cross-departmental collaboration.
What You'll Do:
- Leadership & Team Development: Coach, manage, and train sales specialists and quoting professionals to excel. Foster a collaborative environment for exceeding sales targets. Provide leadership and mentorship, ensuring efficient quote responses, superior customer service, and maximizing upsell opportunities.
- Sales Strategy & Execution: Develop strategies for optimizing the quoting process, streamlining workflows for improved efficiency and accuracy. Use LGC sales tools for prospect management, account maintenance, opportunity tracking, and sales pipeline forecasting.
- Quoting Team Supervision: Oversee daily quoting operations, ensuring timely and professional quote delivery. Monitor quoting metrics (response times, conversion rates, sales performance), identify improvement areas, and implement corrective actions.
- Customer Engagement & Account Management: Represent LGC's product portfolio to new and existing customers across various industries (Pharma, Biotech, Environmental, etc.). Identify, qualify, and close opportunities through prospecting, marketing leads, and self-generated opportunities. Build strong relationships with key decision-makers in high-value accounts.
- Collaboration with Marketing & Product Teams: Stay updated on new product launches and marketing campaigns, ensuring the sales team capitalizes on emerging opportunities. Collaborate with marketing to align customer needs with appropriate product offerings and promotional activities.
Core Competencies: Strong selling skills (prospecting, account management, persuasion), understanding of demand generation, knowledge of consumable sales, and familiarity with pharmaceutical, biotech, and related industries.
Experience Requirements: Bachelor's degree in relevant fields (chemistry, life sciences) preferred. 5-7 years of sales leadership experience, ideally within life sciences or chemical industries. Proven experience coaching and managing high-performing sales teams.
Skills & Competencies: Strong leadership, people management, cross-functional collaboration, CRM proficiency (e.g., Salesforce), sales forecasting, excellent communication, negotiation, analytical skills, data-driven decision-making. Ability to mentor teams through development plans, in-person/virtual coaching, conflict resolution.
Other Requirements: Willingness to travel within North America.
